More about Soletair Power
Edit

Soletair Power addresses the issue of CO2 emissions originating from buildings, responsible for nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions. Existing direct air capture solutions face challenges in cost and efficiency. Soletair Power's breakthrough lies in achieving net-zero emissions by integrating direct air capture with building ventilation systems, providing an economically viable solution for capturing CO2, thereby generating negative emissions, reducing energy consumption, and improving indoor environments.

Soletair Power's patented onsite HVAC integrated CO2 capture technology empowers commercial property owners to reduce their buildings’ overall emissions while achieving significant cost savings. The technology captures CO2 from the air by retrofitting ventilation systems with CO2-binding materials, later converting the captured CO2 into concrete. The modular carbon capture systems operate with a plug-and-play approach, enabling property owners to rapidly and easily install the system.

One HVAC-integrated DAC unit (in buildings with ventilation of 3 m3/s) can capture up to 20 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to 3 hectares of Nordic forest aged 30 years. If building ventilation runtime is controlled by CO2 levels, the system will also help lower the costs of HVAC energy use.

To date, Soletair Power has showcased its ambient air CO2 capture and fuel production using Power-to-X technology at Expo 2020 Dubai. Successful pilot initiatives have been undertaken, including a containerized outdoor carbon dioxide capture unit at ZBT in Germany with a daily capture capacity of 21 kg CO2. Another unit deployed at the Wärtsilä Sustainable Technology Hub in Vaasa, Finland, has a daily capture capacity of 50 kg. A unit is also being deployed for CO2 capture and utilization at a factory in Vantaa, Finland. The next building ventilation integrated unit is scheduled to be deployed in Aarhus, Denmark. Each of these solutions has the potential to capture around 20 tonnes of CO2 annually per ventilation unit. Integration of our solution also creates up to 50% energy savings from the HVAC, further reducing emissions from energy consumption.

Soletair Power surpasses current direct air capture (DAC) limitations by integrating modular CO2 capture technology into buildings' HVAC systems, ensuring cost-effectiveness and improved energy efficiency. In contrast to competitors focusing on large outdoor-scale solutions, our unique approach transforms buildings into potential net-negative carbon sinks, offering both economic incentives and reduced emissions. Rather than relying solely on CO2 emission offset sales, Soletair Power benefits from stable building temperatures for efficient and weatherproof onsite CO2 capture. The technology operates below 100 °C, leveraging existing heat, providing a remarkable edge over competitors requiring higher temperatures.

Soletair Power innovatively utilizes carbon capture to turn buildings into carbon sinks. The easy deployment of this distributed carbon capture technology will significantly impact the CO2 capture price and the carbon market when scaled. This also benefits building owners, making it a financially feasible solution that can contribute positively to the planet.
